All three ranges told me that the XD's have been on the wall for rent for years without any cleaning or lubing since they came in and probably have over 300,000 rounds through at least, with zero problems. All of the local gun ranges (three) here have XD's, Glock's, Beretta's, Kahr's, Sig's & HK's for rent. Everyone I know who has and who has used an XD & XDm has never had any problems with them, and yes, that includes running them very hard.

I don’t know why so many people here bash the XD series with such intense hatred.

The XD is not a good gun, so yeah, it is an upgrade I will post again after I get some feedback from other shooters on Sunday. The forward set sear should also appeal to pistolsmiths who prefer to adjust the sear cam to suit their undivided tastes. It will be compatible with all our other products. For others, welding or set screws or other means of restricting over travel will need to be implemented. For me this means a newly designed trigger. Because the timing is advanced, over-travel must be addressed. The safety function of the striker block is maintained, but we minimized the distance that the trigger must travel before the loop engages the sear. 160" further forward than our standard sear. We redesigned the sear cam geometry so that the trigger engages the sear. We have had several requests to reduce the pre-travel. I just received the prototype of our forward set sear and will be testing it Sunday. Pretty soon you can also have your trigger in another flavor as well: I've barely got any rounds through it yet either (slide is off at OST getting milled right now) so I'm sure it'll get even better after a case of ammo. It's good enough right now though to where I'd likely not bother with the time/cost involved with that. Good to know that I can send the M&P into APEX though for fine tuning. He specializes in XD's and works on Glocks, 1911's, and CZs as well but not M&P's yet. I'm not saying the M&P with Apex stuff is bad.it's very good.just more a case of me giving praise to Springer Precision's work. Very close to glass rod feeling with the perfect (for me) amount of pretravel and reset length. The break on my XD is what's really good.

I've got the full DCAEK kit that was installed by GRTactical which is where i bought the gun. What parts do you have installed and what are you looking for? You can send your gun to Apex for an action job and to tune your trigger how you want. A couple months later I got into reloading so I don't use aluminum stuff anymore. After a couple mags with that stuff I'd start to get the random FTE.

The one issue I do have with my XD is with aluminum cased stuff. I've got the APEX stuff in my M&P and it makes for a great trigger but not as good as the one in my XD. It the best trigger i've ever felt on a striker fired gun. My XD also had trigger work by Springer Precision. I've since started using my P30 though as my carry gun due to it's ergos, i love the grip and the paddle mag release.

I also used it for about a year and a half as my IPSC and Speed Steel gun, so that's two comps a month plus one or two range practice sessions each month.

Each a one day class averaging like 500 rounds per day. Mine was my carry gun and had been through four training classes.three defensive type classes and one an IPSC style shooting clinic. Only issue that day was that I shot them so fast the steel triggers heated up so much they would literally burn your finger. The first day that I had them I put 500 rounds through each of them just to make sure they were good to go. I have had no issues with the XDMs or XD. That issue was fixed when they started making relief cuts. I swap mine out with one from Springer Precision. The only weak spot on the current XD series of pistols is the trigger bar. Well over 15k rounds, cleaned it three times. SouthNarc/Craig Douglas, Tac Pro/Bill Davidson, Suarez Intl/Gabe Suarez, DTI/John Farnam, Ken Hackathorn. I have used an XDM in five or six classes without issue. Just a curiosity: for those who've had an XD that has been 'perfectly reliable', how hard have you run it? (Training classes, >300 rnd range sessions on more than static paper, etc)
